The project

A family ice cream stand that grew up.

Tim Twomey and his son Nick opened Nicky Doodles as an ice cream stand in Rome, NY in 1998, on the lot next to the family's wallpaper store. Today it is an American restaurant and ice cream shop with locations in Rome, Verona and New Hartford, plus a winter ice cream parlor in Rome.

We designed and built a bright, red, white and blue website that feels as fun as a summer night at the stand. Big buttons point straight to the menu, online ordering and ice cream cakes.

The menu

Every flavor, one tap away.

Nicky Doodles serves 50 flavors of soft-serve, 30 flavors of hard ice cream and 28 specialty sundaes. The menu page sorts it all into three tabs: Ice Cream, Food and Specialty Burgers.

The food side covers what the kitchen cooks to order, from steak sandwiches and hot ham to burgers like The Western, Firehouse and Animal House.

Built for the phone in the parking lot.

Every page was designed for the phone first. An Order Online button follows guests down every page, and each location gets its own ordering link, hours and map.

Ice cream cakes get their own page, with a slider of real Nicky Doodles cakes and one clear button to order. It speaks to every kind of party, from birthdays and graduations to office parties and holidays.
