The project
Jubilee Restaurant has fed the Pocono Mountains since 1968, when the VanGilder family turned a small motor lodge coffee shop into Van Gilder's Jubilee Restaurant. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a country casual room, and The Pub in the Pines keeps things going late.
We designed and built a website with the same warm, rustic feel as the restaurant. Rough wood, chalkboard and paper textures frame the menus, events and story, so the site feels like walking through the front door.
The menus
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, wings, beer and wine each get their own tab. Every dish shows its price and description, from the Lumber Jack and Chicken and Waffles to Steak and Eggs.
Every menu is ready for take out, and a short note up top lets guests know when the kitchen may pause take out on its busiest days.
Mobile-first
On a phone, the menus, hours and directions are always close at hand. Calling in a take out order or a catering request is one tap.
Music and events
Jubilee hosts local live music and casual events all year. The Music and Events page puts the weekly lineup up front with the restaurant's own bold graphics, and the home page slider carries the same specials.
Live Music Saturdays in the pub, Wednesday Steak Night, Tuesday Trivia and Wing Nights each get their own graphic, so regulars can see the week at a glance.
The story
The About page tells the story in the family's own words: the 1968 purchase of the Lake Naomi Motor Lodge, the coffee shop that became the Jubilee, and the lounge that grew into The Pub in the Pines in 1988.
Vintage photos from the family sit right next to it. Today the second generation runs the restaurant, and some of the staff have been there for 30 years.
Mountain character
The site uses Jubilee's own photos and promo graphics, so every page and every special looks like it belongs to the Jubilee.
