The project
KAUBOI is a Japanese steakhouse on the third floor of The REMI hotel in Old Town Scottsdale. The kitchen is built around a robata grill, with sushi, premium steaks and a long list of Japanese whiskies. The room mixes polished wood and stone with western murals, and an open-air terrace looks over the grill.
We designed and built a website that feels like the room: dark, warm and quiet, in the restaurant's tan and brown. It gives each way to visit its own path, from a table for two to brunch, a group dinner or a private event.

The menus
Dinner, sushi and yakitori, dessert, cocktails and brunch each get a tab on the menus page. The kitchen's own menus open right in the page, so a guest can flip from nigiri to the whisky list without leaving the site.
Each menu also has its own link in the main navigation.
Mobile-first
Every page was designed for the phone first. A Reservations bar stays at the bottom of the screen, and the OpenTable widget is set in KAUBOI's own colors, so booking feels like part of the site. The REMI dress code is one tap away before guests head out.

Groups and private dining
The Reservations menu splits the ways people book. Standard dining and the group dining page go to OpenTable for parties of up to eight. Bachelor and bachelorette groups get a page that plans the night from dinner to cocktails on the terrace.
Larger parties go to private dining. The page shows the private rooms, the large-party seating and custom menus, and the inquiry form runs on Tripleseat, so every lead lands in the events team's system.

After dark and brunch
KAUBOI stays open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The nightlife page has its own VIP bottle service line and a Mr. Black calendar for After Dark nights on the terrace.
Sunday brunch runs from 10 to 3 and books separately through OpenTable. Seasonal dinners get their own pages too, like Thanksgiving, with the buffet, the price and a reserve button in one place.
The food
The site is built around KAUBOI's own low-light photography, from steaks over open flame to nigiri and whisky, so the pages look like a night in the dining room.
